New Loves: Minimalist Makeup

On those days when I want to look fresh and put together, but not “made up”, I find myself turning to these essential items:

Isdin Skin Drops

Isdin Isdinceutics Skin Drops ($52)

I’ve tried lots of products like this but these drops are my favorite. I love the flexibility of coverage, the glowy finish and how the teensiest bit goes a long way. The bottle also doesn’t make a mess, unlike the competition. I dip an Artis Palm Brush ($65) onto a drop on the back of my hand and then apply with circular motions onto my skin for all day coverage.

Honest Powder

Honest Beauty Invisible Blurring Powder ($28)

This powder is silky, fine and ultra sheer. It sets the Skin Drops, prevents me from getting shiny during the day (no small feat) and the blurring effect helps make my skin look smooth and even. And you can close the sifter. Why isn’t every loose powder packaged this way?

IT Cosmetics

IT Cosmetics CC+ Eye Color Corrector SPF 50 ($29)

To conceal darkness around my eyes (and for any other spots on my face that need extra color correction), this creamy concealer does the trick. The applicator is metal, which feels cool and helps chase away puffiness.

Covergirl clear mascara

Cover Girl Professional Natural Lash Mascara – Clear ($5.49)

If my brows are not combed, they can look unruly even if they have been shaped recently. Of all the clear mascaras and brow gels I have tried, this one is my favorite because if offers the most hold and it never flakes. It also effectively removes any mascara clumps on my lashes. I am relieved that Covergirl updated the packaging – I stopped using it for a while because the cap would crack after a period of time.

Note: the brush is curved, so before the first use I straighten the brush so it’s better for brushing brows.

Jafra Lip Gloss

Jafra Longwear Lip Gloss in Immortal Coral ($13)

True to its name, this lip gloss has a nice, long wear. The slightly shimmering coral adds a sheer pop of color and the formulation provides much-needed moisture for my dry lips. Sometimes I’ll dab a bit on my cheeks if I need a lift (shhhh….).
